Alsager Golf & Country Club Award Major Contract To Osprey Water Management

Work on the upgrading of an existing irrigation system for Alsager Golf Club is nearer completion.

Shropshire-based Osprey Water Management started work on the project in early September and have been working alongside the principle contractor, Land Unit Construction Ltd, who are installing a substantial drainage and alterations package.

The PGA (Professional Golfers Association) acted as advisors and consultants to the club on both the course requirements and selection process; with Osprey winning the order in competition against two other companies.

Alsager, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, can be affected by flooding at certain times of the year and, during the summer, needs a substantial amount of manual watering to be undertaken.

Eric Foster, a member of the club management committee and project manager commented: "The course was established on farmland and the existing irrigation system is now antiquated".

"Osprey were selected to undertake the work as they came up with the best solution to meet our needs, but were certainly not the cheapest option. Work on the course commenced on September 4 and is due for completion 18 weeks later," he said.

Peter Carr, project manager with Land Unit Construction commented at the time the contract award: "We look forward to working with Osprey Water Management and congratulate them on securing the irrigation element of this project which forms part of a major investment by Alsager Golf & Country Club."

Jon Jinks, managing director of Osprey Water Management commenting on the contract gain said: "We were of course delighted to have secured the work. Our solution, which includes a computer controlled monitor to run the entire irrigation system and Toro 855S sprinklers, will provide excellent spray performance and uniformity".

"The new system will meet the needs of the club for at least the next 50 years," he commented.
